i've been curious about mermaid this few days, i went seacrhing about mermaid in wikipedia, and know a bit about mermaid, because they use too much deep word, i couldn't understand much due to my poor english.
the word mermaid come from as in maritime, the Latin mare, "sea" + maid(en). a male mermaid is called merman. mermaid is a half human, half fish.
they say that mermaid sings to the sailor and enchant them, distracting them from work and causing them to fall off the ship and cause shipwreck. some says that mermaid help to save people that are drowning. some even bring people to the underwater kingdom for a visit, for those who watch little mermaid knows that mermaid doesn't know that humans can't breath underwater. which means that mermaid do not purposely drown people, they just don't know that human can't breath underwater.
christopher columber (from our history textbook) is the first man who sees mermaid on his journey around the world. the mermaid that he first seen can't talk and have green or black hair. cool isn't it??
they also said that manatees or dugongs are behind the myth of mermaid. i think it's because they look quite like a mermaid except that mermaid is a half human and half fish.
i saw this picture while searching for mermaid's pic. this little girl is very unlucky, she had her legs both stick together, and the doctor is going to separate their legs. kelian ah~
do you kno that mermaids do not have vagina and have difficulty during sexually intercourse? yup, that's true according to wikipedia. does this mean that if all the mermaid dies means that there will be no more mermaid?
